Rovi, DISH In Patent Licensing Deal
San Carlos-based Rovi said this morning that it is in a 10-year patent licensing deal with DISH. Financial details of the deal were not announced, however, Rovi said in an 8-K that DISH will pay a monthly, per-subscriber fee, but that it will also pay $60M to DISH in the next year related to patent licensing by TiVo, which Rovi is in the process of acquiring. The patent licensing deal is subject to Rovi closing its acquisition of TiVo.
