d.light Lights Up Solar Lantern Efforts With $7.5M

, a developer of solar powered lanterns and lighting systems aimed at the developing market, has raised $7.5M in additional funding, the company said today, bringing its total raised this year to $30M. The company said the funding will go towards its solar lantern and "pay-as-you-go" solar home system development efforts. The funding came from Developing World Markets. d.light said the funding is part of a Series D funding round, which is split between $15M in equity, $2.5M in debt, and $5M in grants. The company is led by Ned Tozun.
