San Francisco-based augmented reality games developer
Niantic, best known for its development of Pokemon GO, has raise $245M in a Series C funding, the company said today. The funding was led by IVP, and also included aXiomatic Gaming, Battery Ventures, Causeway Media Partners, CRV, and Samsung Ventures. Niantic says the funding brings its post-round valuation to nearly $4 billion. According to Niantic, the funding will go towards boosting its augmented reality technology, machine learning, and to also broaden its game offerings, among other efforts. Niantic's top titles are Pokemon GO and Ingress Prime; the company also says it is working on a new game called Harry Potter: Wizards Unite.
