MontaVista Buys Two Linux Firms
Santa Clara-based MontaVista Software, a provider of embedded Linux software products, said Tuesday that it has acquired two UK-based companies. The firm said it acquired MontaVista Limited, a joint venture of the firm based in the UK, and Liberte, which provides Linux design services. Financial details of the transactions were not released. Both companies will be used to increase MontaVista's sales and services team in Europe. MontaVista develops real time operating system extensions to Linux, used by electronics equipment manufacturers to use Linux for their software development projects.
