Google Acquires Postini
Mountain View-based Google announced this morning that it is in a definitive agreement to acquire San Carlos-based Postini, a developer of email filtering and other security and compliance products. The deal is worth $625M in cash. Postini operates a hosted service for filtering out spam and other unwanted email systems, along with web security, archiving, and instant messaging security products. Postini will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Google. Postini is venture backed by August Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners, Mobius Venture Capital, Pacifica Fund, Summit Accelerator Partners, and Sun Microsystems.
