Santa Clara-based Macrovision Corp. announced Monday that it has concluded its purchase of certain technology assets from San Francisco-based Cryptography Research Inc. The deal, which was first announced last Monday, is worth $45 million in cash, plus warrants. According to Macrovision, the acquisition comprises Cryptography Research's Self-Protection Digital Content technology, a key part of Blu-ray's content security platform. Macrovision explained that the technology includes specific patents, security software code and related third-party customer and partner agreements. The company will also hire certain employees involved in the technology.
