Intel Sells Telecom Division
Santa Clara-based Intel has sold part of its Optical Platform Division to EMCORE. EMCORE, which develops semiconductors for the communications and solar energy industries, said today that it will pay $85M for telecommunications portion of Intel's Optical Platform Division. The deal includes intellectual property, assets and technology related to tunable lasers, tunable transponders, 300-pin transponders and tunable laser assemblies. EMCORE is based in Albuquerque, N.M.
