SafeNet Acquires Ingrian Networks
Baltimore-based SafeNet said last week that it has acquired Redwood City-based Ingrian Networks, a developer of data encryption devices. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Ingrian Networks was venture backed by American Express, Globespan, Menlo Ventures, Partech International, Prism VentureWorks, former Sun co-founder Andreas Bechtolsheim, Sun co-founder Bill Joy, Redpoint's John Hamm, Brocade's Roy Sardina, and professor Martin E. Hellman. SafeNet said that Ingrian will become a wholly owned subsidiary of the firm, and that it will combine Ingrian's products into its Enterprise Data Protection product line.
