Novato-based Sonic Solutions said today that it has acquired Simple Star, a San Francisco-based provider of an online multimedia and social media site. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Simple Star develops an online service, PhotoShow, that allows consumers to turn photos and video clips into online slideshows. Simple Star is venture backed by Venrock Associates; the firm's customers include Kodak, Shutterfly, and Snapfish.
