Salesforce.com reported Monday that it has hired Steve McWhirter as president of its Asia-Pacific operations. The San Francisco-based publisher of hosted customer relationship management software said McWhirter will be based out of its Singapore office and will report to Jim Steele, the company's chief customer office and international operations president. Salesforce.com described McWhirter as a 20-year sales and marketing veteran who most recently served as vice president of HP Software Asia Pacific, a division of Hewlett Packard's Technology Solutions Group. Prior to HP, Salesforce.com added, he was vice president of Red Hat’s Asia-Pacific region and director of IBM Software Group's Asia-Pacific unit. McWhirter succeeds Stephen J. Russell, who had held the position since November 2005.
