Mountain View-based Kosmix said today that it has raised $20M in a new financing round. The round was led by Time Warner, and also included prior investors Accel Partners, Lightspeed Venture Partners, and Dag Ventures. Former Motorola Chairman and CEO Ed Zander has also participated in the round, along with Amazon's Jeff Bezos and Legg Mason's Bill Miller. Kosmix said it is launching a new guide to the web, kosmix.com, organized by topic to help users navigate the Web. The new site uses a categorization engine to automatically sort web content into topic-specific web page guides. The new round brings the firm's total raised to $55M.
