Wal-Mart announced today that it has agreed to acquire Mountain View-based
Kosmix, which develops software for filtering social media for users. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Koxmis was founded by Venky Harinarayan and Anand Rajaraman, who were also the founders of Junglee, which was acquired by Amazon back in 1998. Walmart said Kosmix will remain in Silicon Valley, to create new technologies and businesses around social and mobile commerce. Kosmix was venture backed by Accel Partners, Bezos Expeditions, DAG Ventures, Lightspeed Ventures, and Time Warner.
