Palo Alto-based ooma, which develops a hardware device designed to connect home phone systems into a VoIP network, said this morning that it has inked a deal with Best Buy to offer its system nationwide in Best Buy's 1,010 retail stores. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. The deal is an expansion of a 250 retail location pilot the firm ran with Best Buy in 2008. Ooma's hardware provides free, unlimited telephone service over a user's broadband connections; the firm is venture backed by Draper Fisher Jurvetson, Worldview Technology Partners, The Founders Fund Management LLC, WI Harper Group, the Telecommunications Development Fund, and Draper Richards LP.
