Universal Sports, operator of the eponymously titled 24-hour sports television channel, has partnered with Mountain View-based online video platform publisher Ooyala Inc. to upgrade Universal Sports' online video distribution, Ooyala revealed Thursday. According to Ooyala, Universal Sports will use Ooyala's video publishing and monetization platform, Backlot, to deliver video archives to more than 25 partner Web sites, including skiracing.com, skireport.com, skispace.com, trackandfieldnews.com, tilastopaja.org, intlgymnast.com and fasterskier.com. Ooyala said Universal Sports will use Backlot to upload, manage and distribute videos of Olympic-level athletes and lifestyle sports. Headquartered in Santa Monica, Universal Sports is a collaboration between NBC Sports and InterMedia Partners. Ooyala is based in Mountain View.
