Milpitas-based LSI Corporation, a manufacturer of data storage systems, announced today that it is in a definitive agreement to acquire the assets and intellectual property of 3ware, the RAID adapter business of Applied Micro Circuits Corporation (AMCC). According to LSI, it will pay approximately $20M in cash for 3ware, which develops RAID hardware and adapters for the storage market. LSI said that 3ware will become part of its Engenio storage group.
