Google Crowdsources Traffic Data
Mountain View-based Google said this morning that it has added a new feature to its Google Maps software, which allows users to feed back data to Google about traffic conditions. The firm said the data, derived from GPS data from phones, will give it a "pretty good picture" of live traffic conditions. The firm is expanding its traffic data to cover all U.S. highways and arterials using the data.
