Yahoo said Monday afternoon that it has released an open source version of a cloud computing application, Traffic Server. The firm said the software, which is used for session management, authentication, configuration management, load balancing, and routing for computing clouds, was donated to the Apache Software Foundation. The software is used by Yahoo for delivering files, news articles, images, and other web objects to users.
