Yahoo, Tata Partner On Cloud Computing Research
Sunnyvale-based Yahoo said today that it is in an agreement with Computation Research Laboratories (CRL), a subsidiary of India's Tata Sons Limited, on cloud computing research. According to the firms, CRL will make a 14,400 processor supercomputer available to researchers. The effort is linked to Yahoo's participation in Apache Hadoop, an open source distributed computing project. The firms said that the supercomputer is one of the world's top five supercomputers, with a peak performance of 180 teraflops.
