Oracle Gets Opposition From European Commission On Sun Acquisition
The European Commission has raised objections in its review of Oracle's acquisition of Sun Microsystem. According to a SEC filing from Sun Microsystems, the EC has issued a Statement of Objection about "potential negative effects on competition in the market for database products." In response, Oracle said that it believes that the transaction "does not threaten to reduce competition in the slightest, including in the database market," citing "at least" eight strong players in the database market. Oracle said it plans to "virorously oppose" the statement.
