Forterra Sells Virtual World Product Line
San Mateo-based Forterra Systems is selling its On-Line Interactive Virtual Environment (OLIVE) product line to defense integrator Science Applications Interactive Corporation (SAIC), the firms said Monday. Financial details of the move were not disclosed. SAIC said it would hire 12 employees from Forterra as part of the acquisition. Forterra's OLIVE softare provides clients with their own, secure 3D virtual world technology, including support for life-like human avatars.
