IBM Buys Unica
IBM said Friday that it is acquiring Unica, a developer of Internet marketing software, in a deal worth $480M. Unica is based in Waltham, Mass. IBM said it would pay $21 per share in cash for publicly held Unica. Unica will become part of IBM's Software Solutions Group, and IBM said it will be hiring Unica's 500 employees.
