CafeBots Emerges From Stealth, With Backing of KPCB
Palo Alto-based CafeBots, a new startup founded by Stanford professor Yoav Shoham, has emerged from stealth, with funding from Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers. CafeBots is focused on developing software agents which act on your behalf on Facebook, and help you interact better with friends. The CafeBots investment was announced by John Doerr at a press conference on Thursday morning. The announcement came in conjunction with the announced of the sFund, a $250M fund by KPCB investing in social applications and services. The funding of CafeBots was originally uncovered by Silicontap.com in September. Bing Gordon--former Chief Creative Officer of Electronic Arts--will head up the sFund investments. Gordon sits on the board of CafeBots.
