Skyfire, the developer of mobile video optimization technology for mobile operators, plus the developer of a mobile browser for iPhone and Android, said today that it has raised $8M in a third round of funding. The round was led by Verizon, and also included Matrix Partners, Trinity Ventures, and Lightspeed Venture Partners. Skyfire is headed by Jeffrey Glueck, who was previously CMO of Travelocity; he had joined Travelocity after founding site59.com, which Travelocity acquired in 2002.
