Planet Labs Captures $52M
San Francisco-based Planet Labs, a company which is looking to launch its own network of 28, planet-sensing satellites into orbit, said today that it has raised $52M in a Series B funding round. The funding came from Yuri Milner, Industry Ventures, Felicis Ventures, Lux Capital, and Ray Rothrock, along with existing investors DFJ, Capricorn, O’Reilly Alpha Tech Ventures (OATV), Founders Fund, First Round Capital, Innovation Endeavors, Data Collective, and AME Cloud Ventures. The company said it is looking to establish the largest constellation of Earth imaging satellites ever launched.
