Google Unveils Drone Delivery Effort

Google revealed Thursday that it has launched a new effort to develop drones for delivery of goods, showing off a video of its drones delivering a first aid kit, candy bars, dog treats, and water to a couple of Australian farmers. Google--which said a product out of the effort is still "years off"--has invested heavily in robotics, and now owns such companies as Boston Dynamics (military, battle robots) and Titan Aerospace (unmanned, robotic UAVs). Amazon.com also has been looking at using drones for its own delivery efforts.
