John Doerr, Vinod Khosla Join Gates In Launching $1 Billion Cleantech Effort
John Doerr of Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Vinod Khosla of Khosla Ventures are among the top technology leaders who joined Microsoft founder Bill Gates this morning in announcing the Breakthrough Energy. The new clean technology investment firm is aimed at finding affordable and reliable energy that doesn't emit greenhouse gas, according to Gates, who called climate change a "serious threat". The new firm will focus on technology in the areas of electricity, buildings, manufacturing, transportation, and food, according to Gates.
