Harmonic Buys Entone
Sunnyvale-based Harmonic, a provider of video delivery services, has acquired San Mateo-based Entone Technologies, in a deal worth $45M. Entone develops video networking software. The deal is split between $26M in cash and 3.54M shares of Harmonic common stock, along with assumption of liabilities. Entone will spin out its consumer presence equipment business as part of the acquisition. Both Harmonic and Entone play in the IPTV market. Harmonic was advised by Dresdner Kleinwort in the transaction. Entone is backed by BA Venture Partners, Menlo Ventures, and Palomar Ventures.
