Harmonic Buys Rhozet For Transcoding Software
Sunnyvale-based Harmonic Inc. said Wednesday that it has agreed to acquire Rhozet Corporation, a provider of transcoding software. The deal was worth $15.5M in cash and stock. Santa Clara-based Rhozet's products are used to translate videos into different formats for the Internet, mobile and broadcast. According to Harmonic, the deal is expected to close by the end of July. Rhozet's software is being used by Amazon.com, Ascent Media, ESPN, MTV Networks, Sony, Yahoo, and others.
