Harmonic Completes Scopus Video Purchase
Sunnyvale-based Harmonic announced Thursday that it has finalized its acquisition of Scopus Video Networks Ltd. Harmonic said deal is worth some $50 million in cash, or $5.62 per share of Scopus common stock. Harmonic explained that the acquisition will strengthen its position in the broadcast contribution and distribution markets. The merger will also expand Harmonic's international customer base, the company said, adding that its regional sales and support teams as well as channel partners will support Scopus' customers. Harmonic provides broadcast and on-demand video delivery solutions to cable, satellite, broadcast and telecom service providers.
