Atheros Buys Attansic
Santa Clara-based Atheros said Monday that it is acquiring Attansic Technology COmpany, a Taiwanese semiconductor firm that develops Fast and Gigabit Ethernet integrated circuits. The deal is worth $71.5M, comprised of $46.5M in cash and $25M in stock. Attansic is a subsidiary of ASUSTek, and employs 90 in its locations in Hsinchu, Taiwan and Shanghai, China. Atheros said that it would use the acquisition to drive the adoption of Gigabit Ethernet in the 802.11n wireless router market.
