San Jose-based eBay said today that its PayPal subsidiary has agreed to acquire Fraud Sciences Ltd., a Tel Aviv-based provider of online risk management tools. The deal is worth $169M in cash. According to eBay, Fraud Sciences' risk tools and analytics will be used to enhance its fraud management systems, and to accelerate development of fraud detection tools. According to eBay, Fraud Sciences' key personnel will join the firm as part of the acquisition, with Gadi Maier, Fraud Sciences' President and CEO, providing support during the integration period. eBay said that it does not expect the acquisition to have material impact on its 2008 guidance.
