Intel Buys Wind River For $884M
Santa Clara-based Intel Corporation reported this morning that it will pay $884M, or $11.50 per share in cash, of Alameda-based Wind River. Wind River, a maker of software for the embedded computing market, will become part of Intel's efforts to grow beyond its traditional PC and server market. According to Intel, Wind River will become a wholly owned subsidiary of Intel, as part of its Intel Software and Services Group. Wind River reported annual revenues of $359.7M in its fiscal year ended January 31st, and has more than 1600 employees.
