Canesta said late Friday that it has been acquired by
Microsoft. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Canesta said Microsoft is buying its products, technology, intellectual property, customer contracts, and other resources, including 44 patents the firm holds in the 3D sensing area. Canesta was venture backed by Apax Partners, Carlyle Group, Carlyle Venture Partners, Honda Motor Company, Hotung Venture Capital, Korea Global IT Fund, Quanta Computer, SMSC, TechFund Capital, and Venrock Associates.
