Persimmon Technologies, a developer of vacuum robotics and other technology aimed at the semiconductor, LED, solar, and other manufacturing markets, said it raised $5.8M in a Series B funding. The round came from Intel Capital, The Bernard M. Gordon Charitable Remainder Trust, and Nidec Sankyo. Persimmon is based in Nagano, Japan, and develops precision instrumentation used in semiconductor device manufacturing. The firm said the funding go towards expanding its portfolio, further development, global distribution, and ramp of manufacturing. Intel's involvement was led by Dr. Laura Oliphant.
