Google Buys Dropcam For $555M
Mountain View-based Google said late Friday that it has acquired Dropcam, which makes Wi-fi based video security monitoring equipment. Dropcam was venture backed by Menlo Ventures, Accel Partners, Bay Partners, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers and Institutional Venture Partners. Dropcam's equipment was used for home security monitoring.
