Facebook Buys QuickFire Networks For Video Streaming Expertise
Facebook has acquired QuickFire Networks, a startup developing GPU-based video encoding technology and products, the companies said Thursday. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. QuickFire Networks said that it would shut down its operations as part of the buy, and help Facebook with its video streaming efforts. Facebook is hiring "key members" of QuickFire's team. QuickFire was based in San Diego, California.
