Automattic Buys Gravatar
Automattic, the firm behind the popular Wordpress blog software, said Thursday that it has acquired Gravatar, a firm which provides avatars for blog pages. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Gravatar's software and services provide a 80x80 pixel image which appears on weblogs when you post or comment on a blog. Gravatar said that as part of the acquisition it will make all of its Premium features free, move its image serving to a content delivery network, and add the avatars on Wordpress.com to its service.
