Automattic, the software developer behind the popular WordPress blog software, has acquired
Spimerium, a developer of data synchronization tools. Financial terms of the buy were not disclosed. Simperium, which also develops the Simplenote note taking application, said that the move will help it move forward to open up its source code, starting with iOS and JavaScript client libraries. The firm also plans to continue to build out its tools, which are used by developers to automatically synchronize data across different platforms. Automattic is based in San Francisco.
