Automattic, Angels Back WP Engine
A developer of secure hosting services for WordPress blogs, WP Engine, has scored a strategic investment from San Francisco-based Automattic, the operator of WordPress.com, and developer of the popular blogging software, in addition to gaining the support of Silicon Valley angels. WP Engine said it raised $1.2M in funding from Silverton Partners, Automattic, as well as angels Eric Ries, Loic Le Meur, Dharmesh Shah, Jeremy Benken, Bill Boebel, Rob Walling and others. WP Engine offers up WordPress hosting and security help, and is based in Austin, Texas.
