RainStor Gets $12M For Big Data Databases
San Francisco-based Rainstor, a developer of database technology for the big data market, said today that it has raised $12M in a Series C funding round. The round came from Credit Suisse and Rogers Partners, along with Doughty Hanson Technology Ventures, Informatica, Storm Ventures and The Dow Chemical Company. RainStor develops a database product which uses storage compression to reduce the total cost of managing petabytes of data. The firm said the new funds will go towards engineering, expansion of its teams, and sales and marketing. RainStor is headed by John Bantleman.
